Inside the crib, these panels wrap the slatted walls with our Classic mesh weave. The Safari Fun Too print shows against the pale fabric while the trim borders the top and bottom rails. You fit the panels around the wood using wide hook and loop strips at the corners.

Weaving the mesh

We weave our Classic mesh with an open grid that lets daylight into the crib. The polyester yarn holds its shape along the interior walls without sagging, keeping the sides taut from corner post to corner post.

Arranging the panels

Two panels come in the package. Use both the long panel and the short panel together to cover all four slatted sides, or wrap the single long panel across three sides on styles with a solid back.

Tucking the bottom

Press the lower fabric trim below the top edge of the mattress as you work around the frame. The mesh sits flush against the inner face of the wood slats once the hook and loop fasteners are pressed shut.

Washing the fabric

Close all the hook and loop tabs before you place the panels into the washing machine. The polyester fabric washes clean, dries quickly, and attaches back onto the crib rails with the same corner alignment as before.

Not a crib bumper under federal law

When Congress banned padded crib bumpers, the definition CPSC wrote does not include a non-padded mesh crib liner. Our panels sit outside that ban.

No recall of the mesh panels

The mesh liners have never been recalled. One product was, in 2013: a wearable blanket we stopped making that year.

What the guidance says, in full

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends a bare crib: a firm flat mattress, a fitted sheet, and nothing else in it. That recommendation does not carve out mesh liners. Federal law and pediatric guidance say different things here, and we would rather you read both than hear only the half that suits us.

Fitting it, in order

Face the side with the larger holes into the crib, so the finer surface sits outward.
Run the panel along the inside of the rails and wrap the last slat at each end.
Point the ties upward and fasten them on the outside of the frame, never inside.
Set the bottom edge about an inch below the top of the mattress, then pull every tie snug.

Keep it tight against the crib side. Do not use it if it hangs loose or sags toward the mattress. Position the ties on the outside of the crib and pull them snug. Never put pillows or anything else in the crib alongside it. Never use it in a toddler bed or bassinet.

When to take it out

Take the panel out of the crib once your baby can pull up to standing against the crib side, which starts at around six months. An older baby can use it to climb.

It is our Classic weave at 3mm, which holds back 85% of the daylight. The other weaves in the catalog are AirflowBaby at 2mm and 60%, Deluxe at 4mm and 80%.

Is this a padded bumper?

No. It is a non-padded mesh panel. The Safe Sleep for Babies Act was signed in May 2022, and the ban on padded crib bumpers took effect that November. It reaches padded bumpers, vinyl guards and vertical slat covers. The definition CPSC wrote for it does not include a non-padded mesh crib liner.
