A light polyester mesh holds its shape across the slats, soft to touch with the Peaceful Elephants print running across the surface. We weave this Classic mesh so air moves through the fabric while keeping the perimeter lined. Hook and loop fastenings along the edges pull the cloth flat against the crib frame.

The long and short panels

The set comes with two pieces. The long panel wraps three sides of the crib, while the short panel covers the remaining side when you want all four sides dressed. Fasten the long panel on its own for three-sided setups.

The lower edge placement

Tuck the bottom fabric trim down below the top surface of the mattress so the cloth sits flat against the interior slats. The mesh stays taut from corner to corner once the hook and loop tabs are pressed into place.

The trim along the edges

Solid fabric binds the upper and lower edges of both panels, finishing the cut mesh with a smooth border. The trim provides a neat line against the crib rails and anchors the hook and loop closures.

How the panels wash

Both mesh pieces go into the washing machine for regular laundering. Fasten the hook and loop strips before washing so the fasteners do not catch on the mesh, then line dry and hang them back on the crib slats.

Standards, and what the law covers

Tested to ASTM F1917

The panels are tested to the ASTM standard for infant bedding and related accessories.

Air permeability under ASTM D737

The mesh is measured by the textile industry method for how readily air passes through a fabric.

Not a crib bumper under federal law

When Congress banned padded crib bumpers, the definition CPSC wrote does not include a non-padded mesh crib liner. Our panels sit outside that ban.

No recall of the mesh panels

The mesh liners have never been recalled. One product was, in 2013: a wearable blanket we stopped making that year.

What the guidance says, in full

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends a bare crib: a firm flat mattress, a fitted sheet, and nothing else in it. That recommendation does not carve out mesh liners. Federal law and pediatric guidance say different things here, and we would rather you read both than hear only the half that suits us.

Fitting it, in order

  1. Face the side with the larger holes into the crib, so the finer surface sits outward.
  2. Run the panel along the inside of the rails and wrap the last slat at each end.
  3. Point the ties upward and fasten them on the outside of the frame, never inside.
  4. Set the bottom edge about an inch below the top of the mattress, then pull every tie snug.

Keep it tight against the crib side. Do not use it if it hangs loose or sags toward the mattress. Position the ties on the outside of the crib and pull them snug. Never put pillows or anything else in the crib alongside it. Never use it in a toddler bed or bassinet.

When to take it out

Take the panel out of the crib once your baby can pull up to standing against the crib side, which starts at around six months. An older baby can use it to climb.
