Along the interior slats of a standard crib, these mesh panels form a neat perimeter between the rails and the mattress top. We weave our Classic mesh to hang flat against the wood, threading past corner posts and securing in place. The muted gray colorway fits quietly alongside painted or natural wood frames.

Weaving the Classic mesh

We use our Classic mesh for this panel, working with an open polyester weave that allows room air to pass through the fabric. Daylight reaches into the crib through the grid of threads.

Fastening along the slats

Hook and loop closures wrap around the corner posts and outer slats to pull each panel taut. Use both panels for slatted cribs, or mount only the long panel when dressing three sides.

Finishing with bound trim

A solid fabric binding runs along the top and bottom edges of the mesh. The lower trim tucks down below the top of the mattress, keeping the hem resting flat along the crib base.

Choosing the gray colorway

This solid gray reads as a soft, neutral tone from across the room. The solid dyed yarn holds its color through regular cycles in the washing machine without fading against white crib rails.

Standards, and what the law covers

Tested to ASTM F1917

The panels are tested to the ASTM standard for infant bedding and related accessories.

Air permeability under ASTM D737

The mesh is measured by the textile industry method for how readily air passes through a fabric.

Not a crib bumper under federal law

When Congress banned padded crib bumpers, the definition CPSC wrote does not include a non-padded mesh crib liner. Our panels sit outside that ban.

No recall of the mesh panels

The mesh liners have never been recalled. One product was, in 2013: a wearable blanket we stopped making that year.

What the guidance says, in full

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends a bare crib: a firm flat mattress, a fitted sheet, and nothing else in it. That recommendation does not carve out mesh liners. Federal law and pediatric guidance say different things here, and we would rather you read both than hear only the half that suits us.

Fitting it, in order

  1. Face the side with the larger holes into the crib, so the finer surface sits outward.
  2. Run the panel along the inside of the rails and wrap the last slat at each end.
  3. Point the ties upward and fasten them on the outside of the frame, never inside.
  4. Set the bottom edge about an inch below the top of the mattress, then pull every tie snug.

Keep it tight against the crib side. Do not use it if it hangs loose or sags toward the mattress. Position the ties on the outside of the crib and pull them snug. Never put pillows or anything else in the crib alongside it. Never use it in a toddler bed or bassinet.

When to take it out

Take the panel out of the crib once your baby can pull up to standing against the crib side, which starts at around six months. An older baby can use it to climb.
