Across the nursery, the crib slats show a clean band of white fabric woven as an unpadded single layer. We weave this liner from fine polyester mesh to wrap around the interior rails. Hook and loop straps fasten each section flat against the woodwork.

Weaving the mesh

We produce this liner using our AirflowBaby weave, the finest structure in our collection. It forms an open mesh cloth that stays taut along the woodwork without dense batting or heavy filler between the slats.

Arranging the panels

Two panels come in the package. The long panel wraps around three full sides, while the shorter panel spans the front rail. For cribs with solid backboards, you can hang the long section across the remaining three slatted sides.

Finishing the trim

A microfiber binding covers every edge of the panel. The smooth trim encases the mesh raw edges, keeping the corners flat when pulled tight around corner posts and crib legs.

Washing the fabric

The polyester mesh is machine washable for quick care. Close the hook and loop fasteners before laundering to keep the straps from catching on the mesh, and hang the panels back on the slats once dry.

Not a crib bumper under federal law

When Congress banned padded crib bumpers, the definition CPSC wrote does not include a non-padded mesh crib liner. Our panels sit outside that ban.

No recall of the mesh panels

The mesh liners have never been recalled. One product was, in 2013: a wearable blanket we stopped making that year.

What the guidance says, in full

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends a bare crib: a firm flat mattress, a fitted sheet, and nothing else in it. That recommendation does not carve out mesh liners. Federal law and pediatric guidance say different things here, and we would rather you read both than hear only the half that suits us.

Fitting it, in order

Face the side with the larger holes into the crib, so the finer surface sits outward.
Run the panel along the inside of the rails and wrap the last slat at each end.
Point the ties upward and fasten them on the outside of the frame, never inside.
Set the bottom edge about an inch below the top of the mattress, then pull every tie snug.

Keep it tight against the crib side. Do not use it if it hangs loose or sags toward the mattress. Position the ties on the outside of the crib and pull them snug. Never put pillows or anything else in the crib alongside it. Never use it in a toddler bed or bassinet.

When to take it out

Take the panel out of the crib once your baby can pull up to standing against the crib side, which starts at around six months. An older baby can use it to climb.

Is this a padded bumper?

No. It is a non-padded mesh panel. The Safe Sleep for Babies Act was signed in May 2022, and the ban on padded crib bumpers took effect that November. It reaches padded bumpers, vinyl guards and vertical slat covers. The definition CPSC wrote for it does not include a non-padded mesh crib liner.
