A soft textured band of our Classic mesh gives this piece its body, edged in smooth polyester binding that keeps the edge straight along the wood. We size the wrap to fold cleanly over the upper crib bar. It fastens without slack on cribs with slatted sides or solid end boards.

Top rail wrap

The panel folds over the wooden rail and drops down both sides. You get a padded top surface where teeth usually meet wood, with the mesh body hanging flat against the slats rather than bunching at the corners.

Straps and closures

Wide hook and loop closures run along the underside, paired with adjustable straps that cinch down between the slats. You pull each tab snug around the spindle so the wrap does not twist or slide along the rail.

Ecru colorway

The ecru tone sits between plain cream and unbleached linen. Across the room, it softens the line of dark stained timber and blends into natural birch or painted white crib frames without drawing the eye away from the bedding.

In the laundry

Close all the hook and loop tabs flat against their matching strips before dropping the piece in the wash. This keeps the teeth from catching the Classic mesh body. It goes through regular machine cycles and dries fast.

Standards, and what the law covers

Tested to ASTM F1917

The panels are tested to the ASTM standard for infant bedding and related accessories.

Air permeability under ASTM D737

The mesh is measured by the textile industry method for how readily air passes through a fabric.

Not a crib bumper under federal law

When Congress banned padded crib bumpers, the definition CPSC wrote does not include a non-padded mesh crib liner. Our panels sit outside that ban.

No recall of the mesh panels

The mesh liners have never been recalled. One product was, in 2013: a wearable blanket we stopped making that year.

What the guidance says, in full

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends a bare crib: a firm flat mattress, a fitted sheet, and nothing else in it. That recommendation does not carve out mesh liners. Federal law and pediatric guidance say different things here, and we would rather you read both than hear only the half that suits us.

Fitting it, in order

  1. Face the side with the larger holes into the crib, so the finer surface sits outward.
  2. Run the panel along the inside of the rails and wrap the last slat at each end.
  3. Point the ties upward and fasten them on the outside of the frame, never inside.
  4. Set the bottom edge about an inch below the top of the mattress, then pull every tie snug.

Keep it tight against the crib side. Do not use it if it hangs loose or sags toward the mattress. Position the ties on the outside of the crib and pull them snug. Never put pillows or anything else in the crib alongside it. Never use it in a toddler bed or bassinet.

When to take it out

Take the panel out of the crib once your baby can pull up to standing against the crib side, which starts at around six months. An older baby can use it to climb.
