Polyester mesh feels smooth under hand with enough body to fold cleanly over a wood rail. We make these two short panels in our Classic weave to wrap the shorter sides of a crib with solid or slatted ends. They stay in place through daily wear.

Our Classic weave

We knit this mesh in a balanced, open stitch that lets daylight filter through the crib side. It provides a clean single layer of fabric along the rail surface that stands up to regular washing.

The adjustable straps

Sturdy straps thread through the crib slats or anchor around solid end posts, pulling the fabric taut across the wood. Hook and loop closures fasten along the underside so the panel sits flat without bunching.

Our finished trim

A neat polyester binding encloses the outer edge of each panel. It keeps the corners square, reinforces the strap attachments, and stops the mesh from stretching out of shape along the rail.

The white colorway

Clean white fabric blends into painted nursery furniture or provides a sharp contrast against stained dark wood. The solid tone reads as an even, quiet plane from the nursery doorway.

Not a crib bumper under federal law

When Congress banned padded crib bumpers, the definition CPSC wrote does not include a non-padded mesh crib liner. Our panels sit outside that ban.

No recall of the mesh panels

The mesh liners have never been recalled. One product was, in 2013: a wearable blanket we stopped making that year.

What the guidance says, in full

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends a bare crib: a firm flat mattress, a fitted sheet, and nothing else in it. That recommendation does not carve out mesh liners. Federal law and pediatric guidance say different things here, and we would rather you read both than hear only the half that suits us.

Fitting it, in order

Face the side with the larger holes into the crib, so the finer surface sits outward.
Run the panel along the inside of the rails and wrap the last slat at each end.
Point the ties upward and fasten them on the outside of the frame, never inside.
Set the bottom edge about an inch below the top of the mattress, then pull every tie snug.

Keep it tight against the crib side. Do not use it if it hangs loose or sags toward the mattress. Position the ties on the outside of the crib and pull them snug. Never put pillows or anything else in the crib alongside it. Never use it in a toddler bed or bassinet.

When to take it out

Take the panel out of the crib once your baby can pull up to standing against the crib side, which starts at around six months. An older baby can use it to climb.

It is our Classic weave at 3mm, which holds back 85% of the daylight. The other weaves in the catalog are AirflowBaby at 2mm and 60%, Deluxe at 4mm and 80%.

Is this a padded bumper?

No. It is a non-padded mesh panel. The Safe Sleep for Babies Act was signed in May 2022, and the ban on padded crib bumpers took effect that November. It reaches padded bumpers, vinyl guards and vertical slat covers. The definition CPSC wrote for it does not include a non-padded mesh crib liner.
