Textured mesh spans the long sides of the frame, soft under the fingers with enough give to pull taut between the posts. We built this mini crib out of solid pine stained a deep walnut, trading standard wooden slats for our woven cloth. A fitted mini mattress and white sheet complete the setup.
Single open weave
We weave the long side panels in an open mesh pattern that stays taut across the pine frame. Daylight reaches the crib interior through the cloth without solid wood balusters breaking up the wall.
Finished edge binding
Thick woven fabric encases every outer edge of the panel. The binding follows the perimeter to cap the raw mesh, laying flat against the walnut frame so no rough edges show along the top rail.
Fastening across the frame
Hook and loop closures wrap firmly around the base bars and upright posts. The fasteners tension the mesh across both long sides, holding the fabric straight and flat from corner to corner.
Washing the fabric
Unfasten the cloth panels from the wood frame when it is time for laundry. The mesh side panels and the fitted white sheet go right into the washing machine and reattach quickly once dry.
